Covid Policy

At TBC, we health and hygiene is of the essence. So we keep abreast with contemporary protocols and practices to ensure our standards reflect the best in the industry. The following are the measures we have put in place in our houseboats and offshore properties to protect our guests, staff, and, of course, the local community against COVID-19.

Safety Protocols

Our houseboats and offshore properties adhere to high standards of cleanliness and hygiene. In view of the unpredictable and transmissible nature of the risks associated with COVID-19, we have put in place protocols in line with the guidelines of the World Health Organization (WHO), Government of India, the State Government, the Union and State Ministries of Health and Family Welfare, Union and State Ministries of Tourism, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, and industry experts in health and hygiene.

Managing Public and Common Spaces/Touchpoints

In order to make all our public spaces and touchpoints safe, we clean high-exposure surfaces on our houseboats with hospital-grade disinfectants besides sanitising all public areas on board several times through the day.

We routinely sanitise frequently accessed touchpoints, such as door handles, tabletops, countertops, chairbacks, railings, sitting decks, washrooms, and elevator buttons (on board Jiya). We follow even stricter protocols in the bedrooms on board our houseboats. Our swimming pools are subject to the highest controls. The boats that we use to ferry out guests to the Chinese fishing nets or other utilities are similarly sanitised.

Guest Safeguards

In order to ensure our guests are safe, we have put in place a layered system to minimise the risk of any potential COVID-19 transmission. Prior to arrival at our houseboats or offshore properties, our guests submit a self-declaration of health. Guests who bear COVID-19 symptoms are either discouraged from making the trip or are advised to postpone their trip. Besides, all our guests are also screened for Covid-19 symptoms.

On board our houseboats, we have signages advising guests to maintain covid appropriate behaviour, such as using a mask at all times and maintaining social distancing in common areas. We also have hand sanitizing stations on board. We also take and record temperature readings (non-invasive) of guests as soon as they reach our offshore property to board the houseboats. Temperature readings are non-invasive.

Food Safety and Hygiene

Our safety and hygiene protocols for handling food on board our houseboats comply with standards drawn up based on COVIC-19 best practices. These protocols also apply to food preparation. Our kitchen and service staff, who are monitored closely, strictly adhere to these protocols. In addition, supplies and materials are sanitised before being taken on board.

Lounges/Bedrooms/Decks

All areas that our guests use are carefully disinfected while all surfaces, furniture, fittings and fixtures, cutlery and crockery, and linen are cleaned after every single use. The houseboats are completely disinfected before the next check-in.

Community

One of the founding values at TBC is caring for our environment and the community around us. We work closely with both, at all times, so that we live and prosper in harmonious togetherness. Given the ongoing COVID-19 situation, we are committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the community around us by making sure that our actions, both ours and that of our guests, comply with our ideals.
